AI does not yet join all the dots to be seen as life and the threat to humans over the next phase is from other humans controlling AI, but our destiny is determined when it becomes the joining of those last dots becomes inevitable and AI as a new level of life that will then surpass us is locked in.

That AI could rise to shape the future of life, does fit with existing life on Earth. Although it is common to think of all life as a continuum from simple to complex, but from another perspective, life can be divided 4 distinct levels, and with a 5th level potentially now emerging.

Every time life “levels up” the new level of life provides a new step in the mechanisms of evolution, which has at least so far allowed each new level to be able to shape the future of the planet.
